Redevelopment
Building the Future of Senior Care
The IOOF Seniors Homes is undertaking construction projects that align with our Resident First philosophy of care to address sustainability issues for an aging population and increased demand for long-term care in the community.
To serve our community better, we have embarked on the largest capital project in the IOOF’s history with the launch of our redevelopment campaign to expand our facility (10 Brooks Street, Barrie) to a 226-bed long-term care home.
This transformative revitalization will create sixty-four new long-term care beds and sixty-six upgraded beds, with modern spaces, updated equipment, private rooms, and increased square footage.
When completed, our new space will be equipped to provide for increased acuity and complexity of care of our residents and will have a lasting positive impact on our community for generations to come.
Construction Update
As a not-for-profit long-term care Home, the IOOF is eligible for capital construction funding from the Ministry of Long-Term Care to supplement project costs. The IOOF has submitted construction drawings to the Ministry for approval with the hopes to begin construction on the new facility this year.
Currently the IOOF has over $6 million in funds raised towards the project, with a goal of reaching $8 million through a combination of community donations and operational revenue.
THE NEWLY TRANSFORMED IOOF SENIORS HOMES WILL FEATURE:
- Creation of sixty-four new long-term care beds, and sixty-six upgraded beds.
- Redesigned two-story south wing 47,366 sq. ft. Resident Home Areas (RHAs).
- Revitalized three-storey center wing of existing 40,935 sq. ft. Resident Home Areas (RHAs).
- Private rooms with private bathrooms and select semi-private bathrooms for increased infection control and privacy.
- Modern spaces with updated equipment to enhance the resident and family experience.
- New furniture, beds and mattresses in every resident room, and modernized heating and air conditioning throughout.
