IOOF Seniors Homes invites the community to join the 2026 Young at Heart Charity Motorcycle Ride on Saturday, August 22, 2026. This annual event supports long-term care residents and seniors across our community. The Ride will begin at our location sponsor, Barrie Harley-Davidson, who is generously partnering to raise funds for the redevelopment and expansion of our long-term care home.

Last year, thanks to our riders, sponsors, donors, and dedicated volunteers, we raised over $27,000 toward our redevelopment project. Construction is now underway on a major renovation and new addition to the IOOF Seniors Homes, which will include 64 new and 66 upgraded long-term care beds—creating a modern 226-bed facility. The redevelopment will be completed in two phases, with phase one welcoming residents in spring 2028 and phase two in early 2029.

The Young at Heart Ride, founded in 2005, has supported IOOF residents for more than twenty years. “We are honoured to continue our long-standing partnership with Barrie HarleyDavidson and the Barrie Huronia H.O.G. Chapter, whose support has made this event possible year after year. The Young at Heart Ride has become a favourite for our residents, who look forward to seeing the incredible bikes and cheering on participants,” said Garry Hopkins, CEO, IOOF Seniors Homes.

“Motorcycles have a special way of bringing people together. The Young at Heart Ride gives us the opportunity to connect with IOOF residents, hearing their stories and seeing the memories that motorcycles bring back is incredibly meaningful to our team and reflects the kind of community partnership we’re proud to support. It’s a privilege to be part of an event that creates such genuine moments within our community,” said Kate Insley, Owner & Chief Operating Officer, Barrie Harley-Davidson.

Proceeds from the Young at Heart Ride support the IOOF’s redevelopment campaign to expand the long-term care home to a 226-bed facility. The new space will be equipped to meet increased acuity and complexity of care needs, creating a lasting positive impact for generations.

Registration begins at 9:00 AM at Barrie Harley-Davidson on Saturday, August 22nd. The event features a scenic country route, BBQ lunch at the IOOF with residents and families, entertainment, raffle prizes, games, and more. The registration fee is $50, and riders are encouraged to collect pledges. 100% of proceeds support the IOOF redevelopment campaign.
