The IOOF Seniors Homes is excited to announce the 20th-anniversary event of their Young at Heart Motorcycle Ride taking place this summer on Saturday, Aug. 23, 2025, in partnership with Barrie Harley-Davidson.

This important annual event benefits the IOOF Seniors Homes’ long-term care residents and seniors in our community by raising funds for the IOOF’s redevelopment campaign to expand the long-term care home.

“We are looking forward to celebrating this important milestone for the IOOF with our riders, residents, volunteers, and sponsors. The ride began 20 years ago and some of our riders and sponsors have been participating year over year ever since. Barrie Harley-Davidson has been one of our longtime partners and we are so thankful to them and our participants for helping us to honour the 20th-year anniversary to celebrate over $314,000 raised to date for our long-term care home,” said Garry Hopkins, CEO, IOOF Seniors Homes.

The 2025 Young at Heart Motorcycle Ride will feature a scenic country route, barbecue lunch at the IOOF with residents and their families, entertainment, raffle prizes, games and special performance from local swing big band the Baytowne Big Band.

“We are honoured to be able to partner with the IOOF again this year for their 20th-anniversary ride. Our team at Barrie Harley-Davidson and the Huronia H.O.G. chapter who help co-ordinate the route look forward to this event every year. We are so pleased as a family-owned local business to do what we can to support a Barrie charity that helps our community’s seniors,” remarked Kate Insley, owner and chief operating officer, Barrie Harley-Davidson.

Proceeds from the Young at Heart ride support the IOOF’s redevelopment campaign to expand the long-term care home to a 226-bed facility. This initiative will modernize the long-term care facility at 10 Brooks St. in Barrie with 64 new long-term care beds, 66 upgraded beds, enhanced spaces, updated equipment, private rooms, and increased square footage. The IOOF Seniors Homes expects to complete the project in two phases by early 2028 to meet the growing needs of Ontario’s aging population.

With the incredible support of the community and through events like the Young at Heart ride, the IOOF has raised over $1.5 million reaching 76 per cent of their $2-million fundraising goal for the redevelopment campaign.
