Residents' Council & Family Council
Residents' Councils are truly important and make significant contributions in the quality of life for all residents within the home. The IOOF Seniors Homes is fortunate to have an active, engaged, and enthusiastic Residents' Council. We have worked hard to establish and maintain meaningful, strategic, and open partnerships with residents. We offer ongoing and continued support and a respectful environment where resident participation in the life of the home is truly valued. By being a resident of the home, all residents are members of the Residents' Council and are encouraged and welcomed to attend and actively participate. Residents' Council are provided with support from the home to form, organize, and maintain administrative matters, as required. The Residents' Councils meet on a regular schedule throughout the year.
Family Council values the vital role that family relationships play in the lives of the residents who live in the IOOF Seniors Homes long-term care Home. The Home Family Council meets monthly and recesses in the summer months of July and August. The Council’s main purpose is to act in an advisory capacity and facilitate effective communication among residents, family, management and the staff of the Home and to function as a forum to support and promote residents’ rights, autonomy and resident family participation in the decision-making process. The President of the Home Family Council sits on the Resident Services Committee of the Board.
